Fortnite Festival brings back Rock Band and Guitar Hero with local co-op

The consoles will support a maximum of four local players at any given time.

Beginning on Tuesday, January 14, Fortnite Festival will allow local multiplayer, which means that you will be able to sit down in a room with your pals and play the game using plastic guitar controllers together, just like in the good old days. Of course, the most of us undoubtedly do not possess such plastic guitars anymore; nonetheless, normal controllers will provide the same level of functionality. Both Xbox and PlayStation will soon be able to take advantage of this functionality, and the Festival Main Stage mode will allow for a maximum of four native players to compete simultaneously. Perhaps I'm just reminiscing about the good old days, but rules like these?

Harmonix, which is best known for Rock Band and the early Guitar Hero titles, is responsible for developing the rhythm game Fortnite Festival for Epic. For those who are unaware, Fortnite Festival is a rhythm game. It was initially made available to the public at the close of the year 2023. Although the game is compatible with standard controllers, it also supports Rock Band 4 guitar controllers on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, in addition to the PDP Riffmaster controller, which was only recently introduced.

DEI and trans Messenger motifs are likewise eliminated in Meta's right-wing makeover.

At this point, it would appear that the firm is doing everything in its power to satisfy the incoming administration.

Changes in moderation are not the end of Meta's experiment. In addition, the corporation is reportedly discontinuing its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) activities, as reported by both Axios and The New York Times. According to the reporting of The Times, this includes the elimination of diversity hiring targets, the decision to eliminate the role of chief diversity officer, and the decision to no longer prioritize minority-owned firms as contractors.

As soon as Meta was approached for their thoughts on the termination of DEI initiatives, they verified that the reporting was accurate.

It appears that the corporation is basing the decision on a changed "legal and policy landscape," as stated in a message that was received by Axios and distributed to its workers.

The Vice President of Human Resources at Meta, Janelle Gale, is quoted in the document as saying, "The Supreme Court of the United States has recently made decisions signaling a shift in how courts will approach diversity, equity, and inclusion." "The term 'DEI' has also become charged, in part because it is understood by some as a practice that suggests preferential treatment of some groups over others."

When considering Meta's other recent changes, it appears that there is more going on than the corporation being fearful of a prospective lawsuit. The current Supreme Court is not exactly supportive toward systemic initiatives to address issues of race, gender, and sexuality. However, in the context of Meta's other recent adjustments, it appears that there is more going on than that.

During the same time that Mark Zuckerberg was declaring that Meta was discontinuing third-party fact checking and altering the types of speech that it permits on its platform, 404 Media reported that the business withdrew the transgender and non-binary themes from Messenger, as well as the posts that it had made introducing them. This week, the corporation also confirmed that Zuckerberg is still a fan of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) by adding Dana White, who is a supporter of Trump and the CEO of the UFC, to its board of directors. This is a signal that the company is keen to listen to conservative viewpoints. With everything taken into consideration, it appears that this is less of a reaction to the current atmosphere and more of a reflection of how those in power want to do business moving forward.

All RTX GPUs will get DLSS 4, according to NVIDIA

In the course of the CES 2025 event, the business presented the most recent iteration of their DLSS technology.

DLSS 4, the most recent iteration of NVIDIA's real-time image upscaling technology, was presented at CES 2025 by the company, and it was announced that it will be available on all RTX graphics processing units. This includes the RTX 20 series, which was retired in the year 2020; however, the older models are not receiving all of the features that were part of the series.

With the introduction of the new GeForce RTX 50 series models, DLSS 4 will make it possible to generate multiple frames. In comparison to the conventional brute-force rendering method, this feature has the potential to generate up to three more frames for each frame that is drawn in the typical manner. Additionally, it has the ability to multiply frame rates by up to eight times. Multiple Frame Generation will allow for fully ray-traced gameplay at 4K resolution at 240 frames per second, according to NVIDIA, when the company's GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card is utilized. This new flagship GPU will be available for $1,999 and will be released later this month.

Additionally, DLSS 4 is what the business refers to as the "biggest upgrade to its AI models" since the release of DLSS 2, which was an earlier version of the software. In the near future, DLSS Ray Reconstruction, DLSS Super Resolution, and DLAA will be powered by the same advanced architecture that is used to power AI models like ChatGPT and Google's Gemini. Enhanced temporal stability, less ghosting, and more detail of moving objects are some of the benefits that the corporation claims this will bring about.

From the very beginning, DLSS 4 will be supported by a total of seventy-five games and applications. Games such as Alan Wake and Cyberpunk 2077 will be updated to include the capability to take advantage of the Multi Frame Generation feature of the technology when the new RTX 50 cards are released. There will be further titles that will be upgraded in the future to include support for Multi Frame. One of these titles is Black Myth: Wukong. Additionally, upcoming titles such as Doom: The Dark Ages and Dune: Awakening will support the feature when they are released.

The graphics processing units (GPUs) of the GeForce RTX 40 series will not receive Multi Frame Generation; rather, they will receive DLSS 4's increased frame generation, enhanced ray reconstruction, super resolution, and deep learning anti-aliasing capabilities. In the meantime, graphics processing units (GPUs) from the GeFore RTX 30 series and RTX 20 series are receiving the final three.
