Ways to Make Money on Instagram

Okay, so now you know why I think Instagram is a great platform to make money on and what you need to make serious bank. Now let’s look at my favorite ways of doing just that.

1. Become an Influencer and Get Paid to Advertise Products

I’ll preface this first strategy by stating that this is the easily most common tactic to earn money on Instagram.

Again, it isn’t viable for people with a few hundred followers. You need a minimum following of about 5,000 followers and a high engagement rate.

People with this reach can earn up to six figures per post.

All you have to do is post pictures around your interests that show your personality, helping you build up a glamorous personal brand.

Sure, you can follow a planned marketing strategy, but Instagram followers love when you are being true to your authentic self. As you share pictures and build your influence organically, relevant brands are likely to approach you rather than the other way round.

Once you satisfy these criteria, here’s a simplistic version of how making money works:

  • you create a sponsored Instagram post (it could be a photo or video)
  • you include a branded hashtag, mention, or link to promote a brand
  • you share it with your audience
  • you get paid
There is one warning going into this though: don’t pursue sponsored posts simply to make money without believing in the brand you’re promoting. Taking too many of such posts will also burn your audience’s interest and lead to loss of trust in your brand. For example, if you’ve built a following based on visiting fast food restaurants and writing greasy food reviews—suddenly partnering with a weight-loss brand could damage your reputation.

Simple enough to remember, right?

Let’s look at a few people who do this well in real life.

Adam Gonon is a fashion and lifestyle influencer from New York. With a touch over 50,000 followers, he certainly doesn’t have the biggest audience in the world, but that doesn’t stop him from creating sponsored content every few days.

make-money-instagram-4.png
You don’t have to promote fashion or other lifestyle products to get paid for sponsored posts. Amanda Holtzer is a health, diet, and nutrition influencer who works with brands like Costco and Juice Press to create sponsored content.

2. Promote Affiliate Offers

Promoting affiliate offers is not dissimilar to getting paid for sponsored posts. The difference is that you only get paid if people buy the product or service you’re promoting rather than receive payment for your post.

This can be both positive and negative, depending on your audience. While sponsored posts have guaranteed income, you could make a lot more by promoting the right affiliate offer. On the other hand, you could also make a lot less.

Being an affiliate on Instagram is a lot harder than running affiliate ads on your website. Not only do you require a launch audience, but Instagram doesn’t allow clickable links anywhere except your bio. The only way to promote an offer and make sure you receive the affiliate income you’re due is by using promo codes. These are trackable and can be added to your post or story easily. Of course, you’ll still need your followers to visit the affiliate website on their own.

3. Start an Instagram Shop

With an Instagram Shop, you can integrate your e-commerce store with your Instagram profile. This is the only way you can promote your products directly to Instagram followers through your posts, Stories, the Explore tab, and the Shop tab on your profile.

There used to be a lot of friction for e-commerce store owners who wanted to sell through Instagram, but not anymore. Instagram Shopping completely removes friction, letting customers easily check out products in the app and then head to your store at the click of a button.

Let’s say you’re a clothing store and you want to promote an outfit. Simply upload a picture of your model wearing your outfit, and Instagram will let you tag up to five products per post (you can tag up to 20 products per carousel.) You can also promote products in stories and videos, too.

I would like to show you one specific Instagram page that’s completely killing it.

It’s called Doug the Pug. As the name implies, it’s all about the life of one of the Internet’s coolest and cuddliest pugs, Doug.

This page chronicles Doug’s life and takes followers along on his adventures. As of August 2021, Doug the Pug had 3.9 million followers. Doug has his own book entitled Doug the Pug: King of Pop Culture (which is pretty impressive considering that he can’t actually write.) He even does appearances all around the country.

In other words, Doug’s owner has created a massive brand.

Guess what? The popularity they’ve generated is centered around their Instagram page. With 3.9 million followers, you can bet that they’re driving plenty of high-quality traffic to the store and consequently getting paid handsomely for it.

This is a brilliant example of how Instagram can be used to build a brand from scratch. Doug the Pug is a template you could use to launch your own brand and sell from your online store.

Just use your creativity and come up with an interesting angle that will get people excited and eager to invest in your brand.

There’s no doubt that there is a significant time investment involved, but it can pay dividends if you’re able to establish a large and loyal audience. The best part is all of the different ways you can monetize your brand later on.

4. Make Money From Your Content

Just like YouTube, you can monetize your content directly on Instagram. Try one of the three ways below.

IGTV Ads

IGTV ads are a great way to monetize your Instagram content. In March 2021, Instagram made ads available to creators in the U.S., the UK, and Australia. They appear when you watch IGTV from a creator’s feed.

Instagram’s COO, Justin Osofsky, says creators receive 55 percent of the advertising revenue generated through IGTV. That’s the same rate as YouTube making it a great alternative.

Live Badges

If you broadcast live on Instagram, Badges are a fantastic way for your followers to show their support. Think of them as tips your audience can give you when you broadcast. Your viewers can buy a badge during a broadcast, selecting from three levels of hearts that each have a different price point (one for $0.99, two for $1.99, or 3 for $4.99.)

Badges have gone down well with creators. Fitness influencer @charleeatkins said: “Badges in Instagram couldn’t have come at a better time for fitness creators like me. It’s an easy way to channel the love we already see in our Live feeds so we can continue building and creating for our fans.”

make-money-instagram-7.png

Patreon and Only Fans

You don’t have to rely on Instagram’s in-platform features to pay your bills. Third-party sites like Patreon and Only Fans are another great way to make money from your content. In both cases, you’ll want to give away a ton of free value on Instagram before encouraging your audience to follow you on one of the two platforms for exclusive content.

5. Become an Instagram Coach or Consultant

If you are killing it on Instagram and have a massive, engaged following, why not make money by teaching others to do the same thing?

People want to know how to build a following on Instagram and monetize it—it’s why I’m writing this article, after all. If you know how to do it, and have done so yourself, you can make a lot of money.

Take a look at Foundr as an example.

Right now, they have built a massive audience to the tune of 3.3 million on Instagram. And since it’s their strong suit, Foundr founder Nathan now sells his Instagram marketing expertise in an online course called Instagram Domination at a whopping price of $1,997.

Given that businesses that are passionate about Instagram marketing follow them, Foundr has a great pool of potential qualified buyers in their audience with them on Instagram. Many of these prospects are likely to buy their course.

The best news? Anyone can do this if they have a big enough following.

Travel bloggers, food bloggers, marketing consultants—if people are active in your niche and are trying to grow a following doing what you do, launching a course could be highly profitable.

6. Indirectly Make Money by Advertising Your Brand

You don’t have to have a business that’s directly tied to Instagram in order to use the platform to generate sales. Thousands of canny entrepreneurs have leveraged their Instagram following to make money through a separate business. It really doesn’t matter what kind of business you operate; Instagram is a great way to get the word out and generate traffic and sales.

Instagram is particularly powerful if you have a physical product that you can show people using. Service-based businesses like travel agents also work incredibly well.

Hashtags will be particularly important here if you want to increase the reach of your Instagram account. The more followers you have, the more people will see your posts and consider using your business in the future.

7. Teach Your Audience and Get Paid

Promoting other people’s products via affiliate links or selling physical products through an online store are both great options to make money on Instagram. What if I revealed there was a way to earn more money than affiliate marketing without having to handle physical inventory?

There is, and it’s called selling info products.

Info products have become a bit of a dirty term, but you don’t need to sell dating advice or weird diets to make money on Instagram this way. If your Instagram account teaches your audience how to do something—whether that’s learning a foreign language, practicing yoga, or woodworking—you can create a premium info product that you can sell for upwards of $100.

There are hundreds of Instagrammers doing this right now.

One doing particularly well is Minimalist Baker, a food blogger who creates recipes with ten ingredients or less and sells a course on Food photography. As you can see, you don’t even need to sell something directly related to your niche. Minimalist Baker isn’t selling a cooking series or a recipe book—she’s teaching Instagrammers how to take pictures as well as she does—and raking in the cash.

Ways You can Make Money from Instagram

How-To-Make-Money-From-Instagram-e1641828921173.jpg

1. Become an Instagram Influencer

Everyone who’s heard of Instagram has most likely also heard of its influencers. But just in case you haven’t: influencers are a term used to describe those who’ve successfully built a large and loyal following on Instagram. Thanks to the level of trust they’ve built with their audiences, they’re able to literally influence their followers to buy certain products or avail of certain services by simply posting about them. This, of course, provides brands with a great opportunity to reach prospective clients without being as hard sell with their approach.

So how do you earn from this? Well brands, for example, usually partner with influencers to create sponsored posts that help get the word out on their products or services. If you’re able to build your account to influencer status, you stand to make up to thousands of dollars per sponsored post—and all you have to do is share an image of yourself using the brand you’re partnering with. Imagine the possibilities: get enough partnerships in line and you could be set for life or at least a couple of months.

But before you get started on your content plan, here’s a little warning: going overboard with sponsored posts and advertising can easily also lose your followers, which can then demote your status from influencer to has-been. Keep in mind that people browse through Instagram primarily to be social and to be connected with friends and trends, and not to be sold stuff and marketed to. That’s why when it comes to sponsorships, be mindful of choosing brands to partner with. Their language and tone should be in line with yours, just as how an athlete would naturally partner with a sports brand.

2. Sell Products Online

Aside from being a social media tool, Instagram has also become a great e-commerce place where people can both like an image and shop for the item in it. You can fit your entire sales process on the platform. This gives you the perfect opportunity to sell products that you produce yourself, or better yet, source from suppliers—especially if you have nothing particular to sell, or just don’t want to deal with production issues.

Because Instagram is a free platform, you can opt to start small. Choose one to three products you want to start with, but stay on the lookout for new trends and interests! Engage, observe and continuously find the best opportunity to expand your offerings.

And that’s exactly why resellers regularly rake in an impressive amount: because they can focus on selling. The trick is to find items you’d be interested in marketing (and people are actually interested in buying), contacting suppliers, and purchasing in bulk—meaning you get them for much less than what their consumers actually pay when they buy in-store. This way, you get to dictate the price of the items (as long as it’s not more expensive than what the brand actually sells them for) and make a commission.

Even if you don't have a website, you can actually accept payments from your customers through online forms. You can even design your payment form to differentiate yourself and your brand from the old, boring shopping pages. If you have a huge following or are planning to invest a lot into Instagram ads from the get-go, you might want to get yourself a high-risk merchant account as they are better for accepting a high volume of sales

3. Sell Dropshipped Items

If you’re interested in becoming a reseller but don’t want the hassle of worrying about inventory, packaging, or shipping, then dropshipping is definitely for you. All you have to do is sell items using your Instagram account like you normally would, and have the supplier ship your products from their warehouse and straight to your customer’s door.

More and more small businesses have opted to get into a dropshipping business due to its convenience. The dropshipping business model is reliant solely on communication and coordination. It also doesn’t restrict you to just one place so you can travel wherever you want, as long as you can be efficient in responding to inquiries and attending to concerns online.

Consider looking into VPNs to make sure your Instagram and your other communication websites or channels with your suppliers don’t get blocked if you happen to go to places with high censorship. A VPN hides your IP address so you can keep accessing content you were allowed to access in your home country even as you travel abroad.

4. Sell Your Content

At the end of the day, Instagram is all about content. There are numerous ways you can earn money by making authentic sponsored content as an influencer. Or if you’re a photographer, artist, or designer, why not use the social media platform to sell your actual digital artworks? Post and share them on Instagram, and direct your audience to your website to make a purchase. Or invite them to DM you if they want an original copy of your work. Instagram is a great way to build an artistic portfolio, create an audience, and at the end of the day, make a sale.

5. Become an Affiliate

Another way to sell for other brands is by becoming an affiliate. By taking part in an affiliate program, you can market and push other people’s products or services and receive a cut. Some programs even offer pay-per-click campaigns so you can generate income from every click you get.

Think of affiliates like a cross between an influencer and a seller: you use your influence to sell something to your followers, for the benefit of making sales for your partner brand, and getting a commission in return. Affiliates usually make money on Instagram by sharing a trackable link or a promo code and making sure that clicks become converted to sales.

For example, travel influencers use the Travelpayouts affiliate network to link to flight tickets, hotel bookings, tours, and other travel-related services. For every purchase made through their links, they get a commission. Affiliate marketing is really straight-forward if you are working with an honest affiliate program or network.

The JotForm Affiliate Program is another example of a popular affiliate program that allows you to earn a commission for every customer that comes through from your unique affiliate link. For instance, if you’re a photography influencer you can use JotForm for online contracts and bookings. To monetize your content, all you have to do is promote JotForm products on your Instagram profile and get your followers and fellow photographers to subscribe to its services!

The game now is getting people to actually click through your links. One way to go about this is to create amazing, engaging posts that promote products without being too pushy. Consider also placing your link on your bio, since this is one of the few places you can create and share a clickable hyperlink. Then you can use your posts to direct your audience to your bio and to click on through if they wanna learn more.

Pro Tip: There are myriad ways for you to earn extra income online even from just using your smartphone. It’s just a matter of knowing which apps, websites, or tools will best suit your skillset or interests. Before doing business with anyone, make sure you have a written contract signed by both parties (for this, it's important to know exactly how to write a freelance contract so everyone is satisfied with the terms).

Ways You Can Make Money With Facebook

Some-Excellent-Way-To-Earn-Money-From-Facebook.jpg

Who Can Make Money With Facebook?

Anybody can make money with Facebook. Like anything in life, you need to be persistent and not give up if your campaign doesn’t work the first time.

For most of these suggestions, the quality of your Facebook profile is going to be your best way of making a first impression. There are lots of spammers on Facebook that promise the world and never follow through.

You don’t want to be one of these people as your chances of making money will be slim.

Make sure your Facebook profile makes it look like you’re a real person. Put a picture of yourself or your business emblem in your profile picture or cover photo section.

Also, make sure you list the correct city you live in so people don’t think you accidentally post in the wrong group. Finally, include contact information and a website link if you own a local or online business.

Depending on how you are planning to make money with Facebook, you should also consider creating a separate account. This way, you can keep your personal and business activity separate.

What Can You Sell on Facebook?

Almost anything can be sold on Facebook. Most people use Facebook to sell their used cars, secondhand items, handmade items, ebooks, and to advertise their weekend garage sale.

A few things you can’t sell on Facebook include:

  • Alcohol
  • Illicit drugs
  • Tobacco
  • Firearms
  • Animals
  • Real money gambling products
  • Certain healthcare products
In general, you can sell anything on Facebook that you can buy at a local store without having to show a photo id or a doctor’s prescription.

How to Make Money With Facebook

Once your profile is ready to go, you’re now ready to start making money. In many cases, you’re going to be selling items or services you already own. But, we’ll also include a few other suggestions too.

1. Write a Facebook Post

If you just want to sell to your current Facebook friends, you can write a post. In the “What’s on your mind?” field, start typing what you want to sell. You can also include a picture of the item too.

Posts only share with your friends, but they can be seen by others you don’t know if your friend shares the post.

Maybe you’ve see your own friend circles selling cars, real estate, and other possessions instead of going through the hassle of selling to a stranger. If you’ve never sold anything on Facebook you can use their posts as an example to model your post.

Follow Up On Facebook Messenger

Once a friend or group member expresses interest, continue the conversation on Facebook Messenger. This private chat messaging service lets you stay in touch with previous customers and potential customers that didn’t make a sale the first time.

If you’re constantly flipping used items, you can keep these people in mind and send them a message when you finally find an item they wanted originally.

2. Join Local Buy and Sell Groups

If you’re trying to sell locally, there’s a good chance you probably won’t sell to a friend. That’s why you also need to join your local buy and sell groups. Facebook makes it super easy to sell because you can usually create the post in one group and you have the option to choose other groups before the post goes live.

As an example, let’s say you want to sell your car. Your local city or county most likely has at least two different buy and sell groups that accept used car listings. Even though you only make one post, it shows up in multiple groups and you get to reach more Facebook members.

Some of the most popular groups are garage sales and automobiles. To quickly find the groups in your area, click the “Buy and Sell Groups” in the Explore menu. You can also search for group names to filter through the different options too.

Every group has different selling policies so make sure you read the group guidelines before you post. Otherwise, the group moderators can delete your post or remove you from the group.

Create Your Own Group

If there isn’t a local group for the items you want to sell, you might consider starting your own group.

3. Sell on Facebook Marketplace

Don’t forget to sell on the Facebook Marketplace too. The Marketplace is a free-for-all feature where you can buy, sell, or trade almost anything in your local area.

Although it’s not as specialized as local buy and sell groups, everybody has access to the Facebook Marketplace so they can easily share your post with their friends and maybe even find that special something they’ve been looking for.

4. Earn Refer-a-Friend Bonuses

Do you use an online service that you just love and want to share with others? Word of mouth recommendations are one of the most efficient forms of advertising. Companies know this and that’s why they offer refer-a-friend bonus when your friends join by social media.

One company that offers social media refer-a-friend bonuses is Rakuten. Maybe you already use them to earn cash back on nearly every online purchase yourself!

You can send email invites or click the social media share buttons in your account to share your referral link. If your friend signs up through your referral link, you can earn a cash bonus!

More companies that you use on a regular basis offer referral bonuses than you might realize. Take a minute or two and see if you can earn some extra cash by sharing your favorite apps and websites on social media.

5. Create Facebook Ads

You can create ads for someone else’s page or for your page.

My friend Bobby teaches people how to make an extra $1,000 or more a month for running Facebook ads for other companies and blogs. He’s known as the Millennial Money Man and has a course called The Facebook Side Hustle Course. He started creating ads for other people as a side hustle and it grew into mainstream revenue.

As a business owner, you can run ads to help grow your business. For this suggestion, you will first need to create a Facebook Page for your business or website. In fact, think of Pages as “Facebook for Business.”

Creating a Page is free and only takes a few minutes and any business or website is eligible.

If you need a visual example, visit the Well Kept Wallet Facebook page to get an idea of what your Page can look like.

Once your page is created, you can share posts with your Page followers just like you can write posts on your personal timeline. Facebook Pages are the social media equivalent of having a mailing list; you can regularly send messages to your most loyal followers.

For example, ice cream parlors might publish a weekly post mentioning the flavor of the week.

However, don’t forget that you can make money posting ads on Facebook to reach people that currently don’t follow your Page. I suggest taking my friend Bobby’s Facebook Ads course to learn how to make money posting ads.

Tips to Create Facebook Ads

While Page posts can help you make money, you also need to use paid Facebook ads to reach a new audience. You can create your own ads or use a service like Flourish With Facebook Ads to create professional ads that can attract more clicks the first time.

As you create posts on your Page, you will have the option to click the blue “Boost Post” button. After clicking the button, you will be taken to the ad creator tool.

Three tools you must pay close attention to:

  • Objective (Do you want to interact with your audience or make sales?)
  • Audience (Target a specific audience or not?)
  • Budget (How much are you willing to spend per day?)
A huge benefit of Facebook ads is that you can target a specific audience based on where they live, age, gender, and interests. Or, you can also advertise to your followers and their friends if you choose as well.

You can also monitor the people reached and the number of engagements. After the campaign finishes, you can compare the number of engagements to the total campaign cost to calculate your cost-per-click (CPC) amount.

If you’ve ever advertised elsewhere for business, you know that advertising can be expensive in a hurry.

Advertising on Facebook is relatively inexpensive for paid ads since you can choose your target audience for only a few dollars compared to hundreds or thousands of dollars per campaign.

Running Facebook ads is a learning process based on trial-and-error. Because of the low-cost requirements, don’t be afraid to try several small campaigns that only cost $10 to $15 each with different target audiences to find what works best for you.

6. Enter Contests

Some companies and blogs run contests and you can earn entries by sharing your link on Facebook or following their Facebook page. You can also join contest and giveaways groups to find the newest opportunities as well.

Many of these contests are free, so the only entry requirement is your time. Every giveaway is different but you might have the chance to win Amazon gift cards, kitchen gadgets, or a new backyard grill set.

7. Invest in Facebook

This is another suggestion that anybody can use to make money with Facebook. And, you don’t even have to create a Facebook account! While you might find this ironic, Facebook is a publicly traded company on the Nasdaq Index.

Facebook’s stock ticker symbol is FB and it can be purchased with any brokerage in your IRA or taxable brokerage account.

As with any stock market investment, Facebook isn’t guaranteed to make you money. Its stock price can fluctuate daily so you should invest and plan to hold long-term to realize a profit.

If you prefer a less volatile way to invest in Facebook, you might consider buying an index fund that currently holds Facebook in its portfolio.

8. Host a Fundraiser

While you won’t personally profit from this suggestion, you can still help raise money for a personal cause or non-profit. Crowdfunding has become a popular way to help others with financial needs that pay their bills without some outside help.

You can create a fundraising page for one of the causes below:

  • Personal emergency
  • Crisis relief
  • Health and medical
  • Education
  • International
  • Faith
  • Sports
There are plenty of nobles causes that Facebook community members are willing to support. The only problem is that they don’t know where to look. Thankfully, this feature helps address that issue.

9. Apply For a Job

Facebook also has their very own job board to help you find a new job. Local companies will advertise open positions in the “Jobs” tab.

You will find full-time and part-time positions for many industries in this page so scroll down and look at all the opportunities.

In addition to the Facebook Jobs button, there are many groups that list online job leads too. You can join different groups to find job leads and also get insights on the application process and work experience from other group members.

10. Become a Social Media Manager

If you’re social media savvy, you can also get paid to manage corporate social media accounts.

Your responsibilities might include:

  • Scheduling social media posts
  • Responding to comments
  • Creating social media graphics
  • Monitoring ad campaign metrics
  • Building the audience size
There’s a good chance that you’ll have to manage social media account on other platforms besides Facebook. So, it can be a good idea to at least be familiar with the larger platforms like Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter as well.

If you’re Facebook savvy, this can be a perfect opportunity to work from home and make a part-time income with flexible hours.

11. Join Facebook Groups and Help Others

Another way to potentially make money with Facebook is to join groups and help answer people’s questions. This will be a viable option for bloggers and business owners.

All you have to do is find groups that match your area of expertise. In a way, you can say these groups replaced the role of online forums that were popular in the pre-Facebook internet era.

If you’re a smart investor, you can join several investing groups and help people with their various investing questions. For instance, you can compare free investing apps or whether to rollover a 401k.

Even if investing isn’t your specialty, you can find a group that’s for you. As you help people, you can build a reputation and can even include links to your website to help out the reader.

Each page visit means more website traffic that can potentially increase your search engine rankings and maybe even earn an affiliate commission.

Just like the Facebook Buy and Sell groups, you need to pay attention to the group’s posting guidelines. Unless you’re a moderator, you might not be able to post affiliate links or self-promoting articles.

Many groups have these policies to keep spam to a minimum so the reader is getting sound and impartial advice.

12. Create Facebook Live Videos

If you’re not camera shy, Facebook Live can be another fun way to build a personal brand. Maybe you create videos that show how you’re working from home or using a product in real-time.

Or, you can host a live question and answer session where the live viewers message their questions and you answer them live.

As internet bandwidth speeds continually increase, live streams are constantly becoming more common and YouTube isn’t the only video platform in town.

Summary

Anybody can make money with Facebook. It doesn’t matter if you want to sell locally or you want to promote an online website.

By joining groups, interacting with other Facebook members, and maybe even running a paid ad or two, you can make a recurring income on Facebook if you desire.

Even if you only want to list a garage sale or sell your old car and make money once, Facebook is a free and efficient way to tell others what you have for sale.

There are about a million different ways for people to make more money or receive a passive income online. Where to start

Yes, there are plenty of scams out there. Many people who look to make money online without researching first often fall into traps. For instance, many fake websites have you view ads or take surveys but don’t actually pay you.

To start, it’s best to know how these programs can actually make you money. The most popular choice for many is using pay per click sites also known as PPC. These sites make money by selling advertising space on their platform. PPC sites provide advertisers with the opportunity to reach millions of potential customers and entice consumers to join in by paying them for viewing the ads. It’s a two-way street where everybody benefits.

‘Get paid to’ sites are another viable and popular option. Similar to the PPC sites, GPT programs sell advertising space as well as surveys, videos to watch etc. The site then promotes these opportunities to their members. When a consumer participates in an ad viewing or takes a survey they earn a portion of the revenue that the GPT website makes for selling that ad space.

There are plenty of options out there to start earning today. However, it is important to research and vet any program before use as there are as many scams out there as there are reliable websites. Invisibly is all about giving you control and giving you a cut of what you deserve. With Invisibly, we make it easy to engage, share, and most importantly get paid.

Swagbucks

Swagbucks is an extremely popular GPT site. All in all, it has paid users over $532 million in cash and free gift cards to date. The site is relatively unique since it offers multiple ways to earn on one website. They offer a wide range of money making choices such as taking paid surveys, watching ads, and engaging in paid to click links and emails. You can also do entertaining activities such as playing games or keep it simple by searching the web.

Still, the most popular choice for many Swagbucks users is reading emails. Once you join Swagbucks as a user, you will begin to receive promotional emails to your Swagbucks inbox. From there, you can easily earn money by clicking links within the emails and visiting advertiser websites. Doing this allows you to earn swag bucks which can be cashed out via Paypal or collected to earn gift cards.

The only caveat is that some of these email links require you to make a purchase to then earn money. While many don’t, this is still something to look out for within their promotions.

NeoBux

NeoBux functions a bit differently compared to other PTC and GPT websites out there. When you sign up for NeoBux you choose a certain membership plan. This determines how much money you make per click, how many ads you see, and the quality of the ads presented.

With the free Standard NeoBux membership, you can earn around $0.015 per link click and ad you view. While this starting amount is relatively low, NeoBux does not have a limit on how many ads you can view or links you can click. If you would like to earn more, you can upgrade your membership. A golden membership costs $90 a year and allows you to earn a little extra per click.

Still, NeoBux can be useful considering it has a low payout amount. You only need to earn $2 to cash out. The tricky thing is that NeoBux does not use typical cashout programs like Paypal. Instead, they use either Skrill or Neteller so you will need an account with either or these to earn.

InboxDollars

InboxDollars is a GPT site and it offers many different ways to earn. You can get paid via Paypal cashout or earn gift cards by doing various tasks. InboxDollars works by sending you emails that you are paid to read. Many come from large companies and big brand names looking for promotion. Inboxdollars also pays you for playing games, taking marketing surveys and clicking affiliate ads.

ScarletClicks

ScarletClicks is another viable option for an easy way to earn money online. Like NeoBux, they have a minimum payout of $2. Luckily, they offer a wider range of payout services. You can use anything from Skrill, Payeer, or even Bitcoin.

You can earn money through ScarletClicks in a couple different ways. They offer to pay you for clicking links to ads, completing online forms, and even referring friends. You can make around $0.01 per click. Plus, you can earn up to 100% of your referral’s earnings.

In order to start earning with them, you need to select a membership plan. The plan you choose determines the amount you can withdraw each time. With the standard plan you can withdraw around $5 each time. However, with the higher plans you can extract anywhere from $10 to $50 depending on what you pay for. All in all, the payout isn’t bad considering they have paid out nearly 2 million to their 77,000 members.

PrizeRebel

PrizeRebel is a more unique way to make money online. It’s main form of payment is in gift cards. The site offers over 500 different gift cards from stores like Amazon, Steam, Walmart and more. If gift cards aren’t appealing to you, you can also cash-out periodically through PayPal.

GPTplanet

GPTplanet as the name suggests is a ‘get paid to’ site that offers loads of options to make a little extra. The site pays you $0.01 per click on ads or by taking part in surveys and filling out online forms.

Beyond this, GPTplanet also offers an affiliate program. Through this, you get paid for recommending the site to people you know. The amount you receive is based on how well they perform. The nice thing about GTP planet is that it is free to join and it has a low minimum payout. You can cash out when you reach $1. via Skrill, Neteller, AirTM, Payeer and Bitcoin.

Fusion Cash

FusionCash works the same way as many other pay per click sites. It has the traditional ways to make cash by clicking on ads, links etc. However, it does have one key difference in that you can make money by installing mobile apps.

A downside to the site is that it is only available for American residents. Additionally, it only lets you withdraw your money when you have reached a minimum of $25 on the platform. This can be difficult to reach as the daily earning amount for most users is $0.02. Still, it is an option for those looking to make money here and there.

You do get a $5 bonus for signing on and you can earn quicker through the referral system. By having others in your network join you can earn up to $1 when they confirm their email and $2 when they finish their first offer.

Get-Paid

Get-Paid is about as simple as the name suggests. They are a pay per click site that has streamlined the process. What makes them different is that they use a coin system. Essentially, every time you complete a task you earn a coin. You can do anything from filling out surveys to completing sweepstakes and winning contests.

The nice part is that you can cash-out your coins with PayPal, so you don't have to download a lesser used system like Skriller. Like many of the other sites out there, they include a referral system. On average, you can earn anywhere from 20-30% of your referrals’ earnings.

Aticlix

Aticlix is a service built to allow advertisers to reach thousands of consumers. You can earn around $0.04 per click and up to $0.04 per referral click. They offer new ads everyday for you to click and earn with. Plus, the ads reset at midnight so you don’t have to worry about seeing the same thing over and over.

Ojooo WAD

Ojooo WAD’s most popular form of earning is through watching video ads. You can earn anywhere from $0.001 to $0.04 per click and view. In terms of benefit, Ojooo WAD has a low minimum payout amount of $2. You can earn through PayPal, Payza, or Bitcoin. If you don’t want to just watch advertisements, you can earn by signing up for websites, playing games, and taking quizzes. That being said, the payout for doing these tasks is much lower than the amount you can earn from watching ads.

ySense

ySense is one of the most reliable pay per click and get paid sites out there. It is owned by Prodege which is the same company who created Swagbucks and InboxDollars. Yes, you can use ySense to earn by clicking on ads; however, the site mostly uses questionnaires and online forms as tasks. As a bonus, they also pay users for downloading apps and signing up for websites. Through these tasks, users make an average of $8-$10 a day. What makes ySense stand out from the rest is that they work with a multitude of product and survey companies. This way, you never run out of paid opportunities.

Offernation

Offernation provides easy ways to earn with high payoff. They are a great alternative to the other websites out there. Offernation gives you $0.25 for simply signing up. From there you can make anywhere from $0.80-$5 just for completing a task. The site's most popular way to earn is by completing surveys. This being said, they still offer payment for viewing ads and clicking links. Unlike other platforms, they have a webpage dedicated exclusively to proving they actually pay their users. It is working too, to date they have paid their users over $1 million.

Bux Inc.

Bux Inc. is growing fast and currently has over 100,000 members. The main way to earn money here is to get paid to click on ads. You can see all the available ads to view on a given day and work your way down the list to earn. The site also offers to pay you for navigating to an advertisers page for at least 30 seconds. They offer high payment amounts for interacting with advertisements, but be warned as some require you to pay money to make money.

FamilyClix

FamilyClix is a pay to click space that is motivated towards getting the whole family involved. What makes it different is that it allows multiple users to join under one account. Many PTC sites don’t allow this as they prohibit multiple people signing up and working under the same account. The simple reason being that you could exponentially grow your earnings and sort of cheat the system. However, with FamilyClix, everyone can join and earn from clicking links, viewing ads, or playing games.

They offer up to $0.02 per click and you can cash-out via Payeer, Neteller, or Bitcoin when you reach $2. Like most other PTC sites it takes a lot of clicks to earn, but it is a good option for casual use.

How They Make Money From Blogging

There are over a dozen methods these top blogger’s are using to monetize their blog, different techniques for each niche. Some niche’s are easier to promote products to, some have high paying keywords and some are easy to drive millions of visitors every month! Below is a run down on some of the techniques used.

Advertising Banners

By far the most popular advertising method so far in 2017. Website owners love this because they know they are guaranteed the money, other techniques such as affiliate marketing can go up and down a lot depending on what you promote.

CPM Advertising

cpm-advertising1.jpg

This method is really popular for the website’s that receive a huge amount of traffic, advertisers pay you for impressions rather than sales or clicks! As long as you can predict your impressions which is usually east to do, you know how much you will earn.

Affiliate Sales

affiliate-sales.jpg

Selling on commission depending on your niche can be a huge earner and is by far my biggest earner. You promote great products and then get great commissions.

Pay Per Click

google-adsense1.jpg

By far the easiest way to earn money online from a website or blog is from Google Adsense and being paid per click. Can be very lucrative if done right!

How We Make Money Blogging

We have spoken a lot about how we monetize our blogs and make money online.

On IncomeDiary, we don’t sell any advertising or have any advertising banners. I feel like it limits how much you can make.

Say you sold an advert for $1000. You now know you are guaranteed to make $1000 this month, but, you also know you are going to only make $1000 from this advertising space.

When it comes to making money from blogging, we focus on two techniques.

Technique 1: Affiliate Marketing

Selling other peoples products and get a commission every time we make a sale.

Technique 2: Selling Our Own Products

Creating and selling our own eBooks and software. For example, we sell an eBook on getting more traffic and we have a software product that lets you create high converting popups.

We go into a lot more detail about these two monetization methods in this post about monetizing your blog.

The Longer You’re Not Taking Action, The More Money You’re Losing

Tips to Make Money With Google AdSense

How-To-Make-Money-With-AdSe.jpg

Pros and Cons of Making Money With Google AdSense

The Google AdSense program has several great advantages including:

  • It's free to join.
  • Eligibility requirements are easy, which means you can monetize your website or blog even when it's new.
  • There is a variety of ad options and several that you can customize to fit the look and feel of your site.
  • Google pays monthly by direct deposit if you meet the $100 threshold.1
  • You can run ads on several websites from one AdSense account.
  • There are options to run ads on mobile devices and RSS feeds.
  • You can easily add it to your Blogger and YouTube accounts, although with YouTube, you'll need to have at least 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time to run AdSense on your videos.
With that said, there are a few drawbacks to AdSense as well:

  • Google can terminate your account in an instant, and it's not very forgiving if you break the rules.
  • Like all forms of online income, you need traffic in order to make money.
  • When people click on an AdSense ad, you make some money, but your visitor also leaves your site, which means you lose the opportunity to make money with higher-paying affiliate products or your own products and services.
  • It doesn't necessarily pay more than other similar ad programs.

AdSense is a great monetization option, but it's not a get-rich-quick or make-money-doing-nothing program. Further, Google has rules that some bloggers seem to miss when reading the terms of service. As a result, many website owners have found out the hard way that they'd violated a Google policy and have lost their account forever.

Types of AdSense Ads

Google offers a variety of ad types to run on your website, including:

  • Text: Text ads use words, either as an Ad Unit (one offer) or a Link Unit (list of offers), and come in a variety of sizes. You can customize the color of the box, text, and link.
  • Images: Image ads are graphic ads. They come in a variety of sizes. You can choose an ad feed option that mixes both text and image ads.
  • Rich Media: These are interactive ad types that can include HTML, video, and flash.
  • Video
  • Animated Image
  • AdSense for Search: This allows you to have a Google search box on your website or blog. When a user enters a term and conducts a search, a search results page opens with AdSense ads. You can customize the color scheme of the search results page to harmonize with your website.

Google AdSense Payments

Google pays through direct deposit or check each month your earnings reach or exceed $100. If you don't earn $100 in one month, your earnings roll over and are added to the next month. Each time you reach the $100 threshold, Google will issue a payment on the next payment period.1 Through your AdSense account, you can see your current earnings, what ads are generating the most clicks, and other helpful data.

Making Money With AdSense

Making a significant amount of money with AdSense requires a plan. Here are tips for maximizing AdSense revenue:

  • Read and adhere to Google's rules: Webmasters must comply with Google's webmaster policies, as well as the AdSense program policy.
  • Don't click on your own ads or ask others to click on them: Incentivizing clicks, buying Pay Per Click (PPC) space, or using a program designed to drive traffic to AdSense pages are against the rules. Remember, Google isn't very forgiving about breaking the rules, so be sure to adhere to them.
  • Have great content your target market wants to read: Ultimately, money is made, whether through AdSense or other monetization methods, by providing valuable content and quality traffic to your blog or website.
  • Use honest, organic traffic-building website marketing techniques: Search engine optimization and article marketing are effective in getting free traffic to your site.
  • Make sure your website/blog is optimized for mobile (responsive): The number of people who use mobile devices is high. Also make sure you're using responsive ads so Google can send appropriate ad sizes to mobile devices viewing your site.
  • Test ad types and placement to find the options that lead to the most income: Start with standard sizes (300×250, 728×90, and 160×600), and then switch them out to see if one size leads to more clicks than another.
  • Max out your ad placement: You're allowed three standard ad placements per page. Use them all for maximum benefit.
  • Have ads above the fold: This is the section of your page that is viewable without scrolling.
  • Have a leader board ad below your header/logo: Instead of putting an ad at the very top of the page, put it near your logo where it's more likely to be noticed.
  • Include in-content ads for visibility: This means having ads within your articles, which can increase clicks because they'll be seen during the course of reading the post.
  • Monitor your results: Google can overwhelm you with tools and feedback but do your best to analyze your data to see what it says about your results so you can make the most of your effort.
  • Read email from Google: This can be especially important if Google is sending a warning about something it doesn't like on your site. Failure to deal with Google's complaints will lead to termination in the program.

Advanced AdSense Tips

Once you have ads running on your site, you'll want to make sure you are getting the most of your AdSense program. Here are some additional tips to consider when you're ready to boost your AdSense income:

  • Run experiments: You can A/B test your ads through AdSense.
  • Experiment with link and box colors: If your colors match your theme, consider changing them up to see if it impacts results.
  • Enable placement targeting: This allows advertisers to choose where their ads appear.
  • Set up custom channels: This gives you a better sense of what's working and not working to generate income on your site.

Dealing With Competitors' or Questionable Advertisements

If you offer products or services on your website, you may find that some ads Google delivers come from your competitors. Another issue that can occur is ads that may not be completely legitimate or they might offend your market. To prevent these offers from showing up on your site, Google AdSense allows you to block up to 200 URLs from appearing on your site. The challenge of blocking URLs is two-fold.

  1. You don't know what ads are running on your site until you see them there.
  2. Since you can't click on your own links (to the get the URL), you need to be careful about obtaining the URL to block. The best way to get the link so you can block it in AdSense is to right-click the link, select Copy Link Address, and paste it into a document or text editor (i.e., Notepad). The Google URL is long, but within it is the URL of the page the ad goes to. Copy that URL and paste it into your AdSense blocked ads account.

Other Programs Besides AdSense

There are many ad network programs similar to AdSense, such as Media.net and InfoLinks. Some might require a traffic threshold, so you need to wait until your website is established and getting regular traffic before being accepted.

Most have similar rules to Google, such as a limit to the number of the network's ads per page (usually three), and termination for clicking your own ads. In most cases, you can run multiple ad networks on your site without violating terms of service, but you'll want to read the rules of each network before doing it. Further, you want to avoid your site becoming so overwhelmed with ads that your readers can't find the content.

Other Income Options Besides Ad Networks

Ad networks, especially AdSense, are great options because you can join as a new blogger or website owner, and they are easy to use. But they're not the only ways to make money from your website. In fact, as your site traffic grows, other monetization options might be better. Here are some other money-making ideas you can use instead of, or along with, ad networks.

  • Affiliate Marketing: Like ad networks, affiliate programs are usually free to join and easy to add to your website.
  • Sell Your Own Product or Service: Creating your own product or service, as opposed to promoting someone else's through affiliate marketing, can earn you significantly more money. This is especially true with information products or online courses that are inexpensive to create and sell. Other options include ebooks and freelance services.
  • Coaching or Consulting: As an expert in your topic, you're in a good position to help people beyond the information you provide on your website or blog. You can offer more in-depth help through coaching or consulting.
  • Sponsors: When you have a good amount of traffic and influence over your audience, other companies will pay to sponsor your website. They can sponsor your entire site or a single page or post.

As you can see, there are many ways to earn income from a website or blog. But many require that you have significant traffic before you'll make money. This is where AdSense is a good beginning monetization option. You don't have to create anything, you can join the day you start your blog or website, it's free, and it's easy to add the ad code to your website.

Ways to Make Money Online Blogging with WordPress

5-Ways-to-Make-Money-With-Your-Blog.png

Are you looking for the top ways to make money online that are NOT scams? WordPress is the largest publishing platform on the planet, and it powers over 43% of all websites.

You can use WordPress and blogging to earn money online by doing what you love. You can work from home, at your own time, and there is no limit on how much money you can make.

In this article, we will share top “proven” ways to make money online blogging with WordPress
1. Make Money With Affiliate Marketing

affiliatemarketing.png
Affiliate marketing is when you recommend a product or service to your audience using special tracking links, and then get a referral commission for every time someone buys after clicking your link.

A real-life example of affiliate marketing would be when you help a friend open a bank account at your bank branch. Usually, they give you a gift card or a bonus of some sort.

Similar to that many products and services online have affiliate programs that you can join. There are affiliate programs available for every industry (niche).

If you’re interested in getting started with affiliate marketing, you can start by thinking about the products you already use that your readers may be interested in as well. Then you can see if they have an affiliate program that you can sign up for.

You can find a huge list of products to promote from:

  • Amazon
  • Commission Junction
  • ShareASale
Once you have selected the products to promote, then you can use a WordPress plugin like PrettyLinks to manage your affiliate links.

It allows you to quickly insert links into posts, create branded links, auto-replace keywords into links, and even see how each link is performing on your site.

Affiliate marketing is the easiest way to make money because you can promote a wide-variety of products. Just about every popular store like Walmart, BestBuy, Amazon, and others have an affiliate program.

To learn more, see our beginner’s guide to affiliate marketing and also check out these affiliate marketing tools and plugins which will help you increase your earnings.

2. Display Google AdSense on WordPress

Google Adsense is an easy way to make money from your blog. All you need to do is add a script from Google to your website and start displaying ads.

You will get paid for every time a user clicks on the ad. These are called CPC ads.

What is CPC? CPC stands for “cost per click.” By displaying CPC ads with Google Adsense, you receive a set fee every time a visitor clicks on an ad.

The cost per click is set by the advertiser. (This is in contrast to CPM ads, where you’re paid for ad views instead of clicks. CPM means “cost per thousand impressions,” where M is the roman numeral for 1,000.)

Google Adsense is a good way to start earning money online when you are first starting out.

You can see our guide on how to monetize a WordPress blog with Google AdSense to get started, and this tutorial on how to optimize your AdSense revenue for more tips.

Looking for a Google AdSense alternative? Try Media.net. They also have a large pool of advertisers, and their payouts are good.

3. Use a WordPress Advertising Plugin to Sell Ads Directly

selladsdirectly.png
Google AdSense is easy to set up, but the amount of money you can earn is limited. Each ad click earning will vary.

Directly selling banner ad space on your website can be more lucrative. Instead of having to rely on an intermediary who takes a cut of the money, you negotiate the price and terms on your own.

Above we mentioned the difference between CPC and CPM ads, where you are paid per click or per thousand views. While you could use one of those models for selling banner ads, most bloggers charge a flat rate instead. Charging a flat rate is easier than keeping track of views or clicks.

Still, directly selling ads takes more work to manage than using Google AdSense. Instead of just adding a bit of code to your website, you’ll have to negotiate the pricing, come up with an agreement and terms, and take care of administrative work like invoicing.

However, using a WordPress ad management plugin can make the process easier. We recommend using AdSanity, it allows you to manage Google AdSense as well as your own ads.

To learn more, see our guide on how to sell ads on your WordPress blog.

4. Sell Sponsored Blog Posts

Some bloggers aren’t interested in displaying ads to their audience and wonder how to monetize a blog without ads.

With ad networks, you lose some control over the content displayed on your site. Some readers will get annoyed or offended by ads, and more and more people are using ad blockers which affects your earning potential.

An alternative way to monetize a blog is through sponsorships.

A sponsorship works just like it does in sports, TV shows, or other industries. Basically, a company pays you to represent their product, talk about it, and promote it to your readers.

To get started, it’s a good idea to put together a one-page media kit that details your traffic stats, social media following, audience demographics, and any other data that will make your site more appealing to advertisers. Then, you can approach companies to negotiate a sponsorship deal.

When publishing sponsored posts, it’s crucial to know about the laws in your area about disclosure.

For example, in the United States, a blogger who publishes a sponsored post must comply with the FTC’s Endorsement Guides. This includes disclosing whenever a post is sponsored. You can do that by adding a sponsored post prefix to your post title in WordPress.

5. Get Paid to Write Reviews

writereviews.png
Similar to sponsored posts, you can also make money by writing paid reviews on your site.

This is a slightly different monetization method than a review site with affiliate links, as mentioned above.

Instead, you get to try out products related to your niche for free, and even get paid for writing a review.

The process for doing this can be similar to getting sponsored posts. You’ll want to review products that are relevant to your niche, that your audience would be interested in.

You can approach companies on your own to ask about doing paid reviews. There are also websites like PayPerPost that can help to connect you with businesses who may be interested.

6. Earn Money Online by Flipping Websites

flippa.jpg
If you know how to build a WordPress website, then you’re way ahead of most people. Sometimes entrepreneurs like to buy already established websites that they can use for their own businesses.

If you can build a WordPress blog and start getting traffic to it, then you can sell it and make money for your efforts.

This requires knowing the type of websites in demand, and how to price and sell them. There are websites like Flippa that serve as auction sites and brokers for selling websites.

7. Get Public Speaking Gigs as an Influencer

publicspeaking.png
If you are promoting your own brand along with your blog, then over time you will get a decent following establishing you as an influencer in your space.

You can utilize this recognition to get some public speaking jobs. Many bloggers make a lot of money by speaking at conferences.

Speaking at events whether you are paid or not helps you promote your blog and your personal brand. If you are good at networking and public speaking, then you would be able to find lots of new opportunities on the way.

Here are some general tips you need to keep in mind if you want to make money as a paid public speaker.

  • Be an expert in your field. If you don’t have enough knowledge/skills at the moment, then start learning right away.
  • Be consistent – You need to continuously promote your expertise on the topic through your blogging and social media activities.
  • Let people know that you are available. You can announce on social media or privately reach out to event organizers.
  • You may not find paid public speaking gigs right away. Many successful speakers start their public speaking career from smaller, more casual, and free community events and meetups.

Create a Paid Membership Website

paid-membership-sites.jpg
If you’re not interested in selling ads or sponsored posts, there are plenty of other ways you can earn money online from your blog. A popular method is by having your audience pay to access certain content or areas of your site. Here are a couple of ways to do that.

8. Create Restricted Members Only Content

Your most loyal readers are huge fans and may be willing to pay to read more of your work. You can create a members-only area for them to share more in-depth blog posts, downloads, videos, audio content, and more.

Membership sites can be a big time investment since you must continually create premium content for your paying members. But they can be very lucrative because they are recurring revenue (subscriptions).

You can easily create a membership site using a WordPress membership plugin. We recommend using MemberPress, it is the most beginner friendly and robust membership plugin for WordPress.

We have a complete guide on making a WordPress membership website with step by step instructions to help you get started.

9. Create a Private Forum

Another option for creating a paid membership site is to create private forums that users must pay to get access to. Forums are a great way for your audience to get one-on-one advice from you. Other members of the community can also interact and help each other out.

While moderating a forum can be a lot of work, a paid forum is a great way to earn recurring revenue from your WordPress site.

To get started, you’ll need to set up a forum on your site. Here are our recommended top 5 best forum plugins for WordPress.

10. Create a questions and answers community

qnawebsite.png
Question and answers communities like Stack Exchange and Quora are huge. They help you build an online community that is driven, motivated, and highly engaged.

Just like forums, you will have to spend some time building a sizable community. After that, you will be able to monetize user-generated content on your website using advertisements, affiliate ads, and other methods.

Popular question and answer websites are able to get direct advertisement and sponsorship deals from advertisers in their industry. This helps them negotiate a much higher rate and extra perks.

See our guide on how to start a Questions and Answers website using WordPress.

Create a Directory Website With WordPress

paid-business-directory-website.jpg
Another option for making money online with WordPress is to create a directory or listing website. You can then charge visitors to advertise their listings on your site.

Here are a few different directory ideas to get you started.

11. Create a Paid Business Directory

Web directories may make you think of the early days of the web before bots started indexing everything automatically, but they’re not completely obsolete.

Generic web directories are no longer necessary, but local or niche directories can be extremely useful.

Directories might gather reviews of local businesses, share the best podcasts on a given topic, or list the best products in a certain niche.

You can easily create a web directory in WordPress following our tutorial. There are also plenty of directory plugins for WordPress you can choose from, many of which allow you to accept payments with submissions.

12. Create a WordPress Job Board With Paid Submissions

Another option is to create a paid job board. Companies who want to advertise an open position to your audience can pay you to submit a listing.

It’s easier to create a successful job board if you narrow down to a specific niche. That way you can become the go-to site for anyone looking for a job in that industry, with minimal competition.

This works great for established blogs in a narrow niche. For example, ProBlogger is now famous for their job board for professional bloggers.

With WordPress, creating a paid job board is easy. See our tutorial on how to create a job board in WordPress with WP Job Manager for a step-by-step walkthrough. You can use the WooCommerce Paid Listings addon to charge for job post submissions.

wc-paid-listings.jpg
13. Create a WordPress Event Calendar With Paid Submissions

Instead of a job board, you could create an event calendar where you charge people to advertise their events. This also works well if you already have an established audience, because businesses will be willing to pay to reach your audience.

A paid event calendar is a good monetization method for local or industry-specific websites. You might choose to advertise events in your local city, conferences in a certain industry, or even webinars or live streaming events.

Sell Digital Products With WordPress

sell-digital-products.png
If you’re looking for a more low-maintenance way to make money online blogging with WordPress, then selling your own digital products may be a good choice. While you do have to invest the time to create the product up front, after it’s created your work is very minimal.

Here are a few digital products you can create and sell on your website.

14. Sell Ebooks on WordPress

Ebooks are an obvious choice for creating digital products. They are relatively simple to write and produce. If you’ve been blogging for a while, then you can collect some of your old blog posts and turn them into chapters of a book.

Once your book is written, you can design a cover using a tool like Canva and create a PDF of your ebook.

Selling digital products on WordPress is easy with a plugin. To get started, you can see our guide on the best WordPress eCommerce plugins compared.

For digital downloads, we recommend Easy Digital Downloads. It’s relatively easy to use and includes all the features you need to create your online store.

easy-digital-downloads.jpg
15. Sell Online Courses

Selling an online course is another great way to make money online.

Courses usually sell for a much higher price point than ebooks. You can charge a premium for your expertise.

You’ll need to create the lessons for your course, plus any supporting materials that you want to include such as downloads, slides, checklists, templates, etc.

You will also need to decide whether you want to offer personalized support for your course. Some sites offer two tiers of each course: a basic version without support, and a premium version with email support.

Once your course is ready, you can use a learning management system (LMS) plugin to deliver the course to your audience.

We recommend using MemberPress since they have a built-in course builder.

For detailed instructions, see our guide on how to sell online courses using MemberPress.

If you’re looking for a non-WordPress course builder, then see our article on the best online course platforms.

16. Host a Paid Webinar

Webinars are a great way to build your audience, share your experience, and grow your business. But did you know they’re also a smart way to make money online?

Webinars are similar to online courses, but a webinar is live and often includes a question and answer section.

WordPress makes it easy to host a paid webinar. Whether you’re using your site to actually host the webinar, or just to advertise your webinar and register participants, it’s crucial for your webinar success.

Sell Services Online Using WordPress

sell-services-work-from-home.jpg
If you’re looking for easy ways to make money online, selling services is the fastest way to get started. There’s no up front investment of creating a product or investing in inventory.

Instead, you can just create a “hire me” page on your website and start looking for your first client.

Here are a few ideas to get you started.

17. Offer Freelance Services

As a blogger, you’re already an expert on your niche. You can start earning an income by offering your skills and expertise as a freelancer.

Freelancing is a popular way to make money online because it doesn’t necessarily require any upfront investment of time or money. You can just start offering your services to your current audience.

Once you start freelancing, you’ll need a way to invoice and collect payments from your clients. We recommend using either WP Simple Pay or FreshBooks, but there are also other invoicing plugins for WordPress.

If you’re interested in freelancing to make some serious money online, then see our list of the top tools for WordPress freelancers, designers, and developers for help getting started.

18. Start Your Own Consulting Business

Consulting is another way to make money online from your blog and share your expertise.

Instead of offering your services, a consultant offers advice and strategy so that their clients can become more effective.

As with freelancing, there is no startup investment. You can start offering consulting services on your existing blog. All you need is to create a page with a form so users can request more information.

To easily create a professional, mobile-friendly form, we recommend WPForms. You can see this tutorial on how to create a request a quote form in WordPress to get started.

19. Become a Coach

If “consultant” doesn’t feel like the right title for you, you can consider becoming a coach instead.

A life coach offers advice, guidance, and accountability for setting goals and improving one’s life. There are also other kinds of coaches, such as blog coaches, writing coaches, and more.

Whatever your area of expertise is, you can provide one-on-one help to your audience with coaching sessions.

To save time and make things convenient for your clients, you can set up a booking form so readers can schedule coaching sessions right from your WordPress blog.

See our list of the 5 best WordPress appointment and booking plugins to get started.

Sell Physical Products Online Using WordPress

While selling digital products or services can be an easy way to start making money online, there’s nothing quite like selling real, physical products. Here are a few ways you can get started selling products with WordPress.

20. Start an Ecommerce Business With WooCommerce

start-selling-products-online.jpg
Have an idea for your own product? Why not start your own online store?

WordPress makes it easy to create a shop or even add a shop to your existing blog using the free WooCommerce plugin.

Starting an online store can be a lot of work, since you need to create or buy the products and then ship them out yourself.

But selling physical products can be a rewarding experience, and sometimes a physical product is exactly what your audience wants.

To get started, see our tutorial on how to start an online store with WooCommerce.

You can also use Shopify or BigCommerce as WooCommerce alternative.

21. Create an Online T-shirt Store With WordPress

Creating your own t-shirt shop is easy with WordPress. Almost everyone wears t-shirts, so opening up a t-shirt shop is a great way to monetize any kind of blog. Designing t-shirts allows you to be creative and offer something unique to your audience.

It’s easy because there are services out there that allow you to upload your own designs, and they print / ship it for you. You get a profit share.

You can easily create your own t-shirt shop on your WordPress site using WP-Spreadplugin by Spreadshirt.

spreadshirt.jpg
If you want a faster solution, then you can use a Shopify store which connects with dozens of t-shirt printing companies.

22. Create a WooCommerce Dropshipping Store

Dropshipping is another way you can create an ecommerce store on your WordPress website without having to handle inventory or ship items yourself.

With dropshipping, you create the store, manage the website, and customer service. But a dropshipping service will take your orders and ship them out to your customers. They’re an invisible third party that your customers don’t even know about.

You can use the WooCommerce plugin to create a dropshipping store. There’s also a WooCommerce Dropshipping addon plugin that allows you to automate the process.

23. Create an Amazon Affiliate WordPress Shop

One downside of dropshipping is that you have to find a good supplier, which can be a challenge, and sometimes you have to place a large order up front. This can make it difficult to get started without investing a lot of money.

If you want an easier way to set up an ecommerce site without having to ship products yourself, then you may want to try an Amazon Affiliate shop.

As with many of the items on this list, this works best if you specialize in a niche. If you offer everything, it’s impossible to compete with a big shop like Amazon. But in a small niche, you can differentiate yourself and really stand out.

For complete instructions, see our tutorial on how to create an Amazon affiliate store using WordPress.

Offering Platform as a Service

WordPress comes with some incredibly powerful plugins that are actually full-fledged platforms in their own right.

You can add such a platform to your blog or e-commerce store and offer it as a paid service. You get a cut from each sell, which allows you to earn passive income from user activity on your website.

24.Create an Online Marketplace Website

An online marketplace is like an eCommerce store where users cannot just buy but also sell their own products. Normally, WooCommerce assumes that you run a single vendor website.

You will need a plugin like WC Vendors to turn WooCommerce into a multi-vendor capable platform. After that, vendors will be able to register on your site and start selling.

You can make money by charging commission on each sell, or you can allow vendors to buy membership packages for their listings.

For more details, see our guide on how to make an online marketplace using WordPress.

25. Make an Auctions Website

An auctions website allows users to bid on products to purchase them. This allows the sellers to maximize their profits and customers to find unique deals.

Ebay is probably the best example of an online auctions marketplace.

You can run auctions on your WordPress website and even allow third-party vendors to list their products as well. You can make money by charging for the listing or by getting a cut on each sell.

To build an auctions marketplace with WordPress, you will need the following add-ons.

  • WooCommerce (for shopping cart and payment features).
  • An auctions add-on
  • A multi-vendor add-on
For step by step instructions, see our guide on how to build an eBay like auctions website using WordPress.

26. Create a Job Marketplace website

Unlike a regular job listings website, a job marketplace allows you to make money on each job listing. Fiverr and UpWork are probably the best examples of online job marketplace websites.

You can promote your job marketplace as a micro-job platform for people working in the same niche as your blog. To make your platform more competitive you can select a very specific niche.

This will help you easily find customers and professionals who are unable to use large platforms because of too much irrelevant competition.

You can charge a small fee for job listings or when a job is completed. More successful completion of jobs will bring you more customers and freelancers in the future.

For details, see our step by step tutorial on how to make a Fiverr like Micro-Job website using WordPress.

Become a WordPress Designer or Developer

wordpress-plugin-development.jpg
If you’re more technically inclined, then you can become a WordPress developer or designer in order to make money online. This will take more technical skills, but it’s not too hard to get started.

27. Develop WordPress Plugins

Plugins are what make WordPress so flexible and powerful. Plugins work like apps, allowing you to extend and modify any feature of your WordPress website.

Plugins come in all varieties, from very simple code modifications to complex software applications. If you have a basic grasp of how WordPress works and some simple PHP knowledge, you can create your own WordPress plugin.

As a plugin developer, there are many ways you can distribute your plugins. Anyone can submit a free plugin to the WordPress.org plugin directory, as long as they follow the WordPress plugin guidelines. This is a great way to gain experience and build a reputation for yourself as a WordPress plugin developer.

Once you’re ready to start selling premium plugins, you could use your existing WordPress blog to sell them. You’ll want to make sure that the plugin you create directly fulfills a need of your audience before offering it for sale. You can create a survey to see what problems they need to solve on their WordPress site, and then create a plugin that solves that problem.

You can then sell the plugin on your site using Easy Digital Downloads.

28. Sell WordPress Themes

If you enjoy web design and development, you could start creating your own WordPress themes to sell.

This requires both design and technical skills. You have to know how to create a good-looking design, and also how to code it for WordPress.

Using a WordPress theme framework such as Genesis can give you a head start. Then you’ll need to design and code a beautiful child theme.

29. Sell Graphics on Your WordPress Site

If you like design more than coding, another option is to design and sell graphics on your WordPress site.

You can create graphics such as stock images or logos and sell them on your site using an ecommerce plugin. You can also join online marketplaces to sell your graphics as well.

30. Accept Donations

donations.jpg
Last but not least, one way you can make money from your WordPress blog is simply to ask for it.

You can begin accepting donations in a few different ways. You could add a Paypal donate button or a Stripe donate button to your website. Or for a more professional look and advanced features like email marketing integration, you could use WPForms to create a donation form on your WordPress site.

Donations are last on the list because of their limited effectiveness, since you have to rely on the generosity of your readers. It’s usually more lucrative to offer them something in return.

2. Shopify

Shopify-Free-Trial.png

Ecommerce is exploding. This is undoubtedly the fastest-growing field on the Internet and has endless potential. And why?

Well, simply because traditional commerce is being transported over the Internet. But there is a smart way to do eCommerce without having a product, without taking care of the delivery, and even without ever touching the product yourself. This is called Dropshipping.
Dropshipping is the act of being an intermediary between a supplier and a customer.

You find a product from a supplier, and you find customers who buy that product from you more than the supplier's price.

You earn the margin between the customer's selling price and the supplier's purchase price of the product, and Shopify will help just to do that.

Shopify is a SaaS (software as a service). it is an e-commerce platform that allows individuals and businesses to create their online stores.

A monthly fee gives you access to an admin panel where you can enter store data, add products, and process orders, plus you can choose from a rich selection of free and purchase design templates.

To make money with dropshipping you first need to set up an online store with Shopify.

Due to the impact of COVID-19, Shopify is offering an extended 90-day free trial

3. Binance

Earn-with-Binance.png

Binance P2P lets users buy and sell cryptocurrencies instantly with different users, while Binance Earn permits new and professional crypto users to efficiently earn money from their current crypto assets.
There are numerous forms to generate passive earnings with Binance Earn, from savings products with flexible, locked-in terms to better-refined products including DeFi staking, Automated Market Makers (AMMs), and more.
Binance users can transmit crypto investments from Binance Earn to Binance P2P and effortlessly trade their crypto assets in exchange for their best local currency.
Let's take a look at each of the earning options in Binance separately.
Flexible savings. This method involves acquiring interest bonuses only for keeping funds in a portfolio. If the user unexpectedly changes their opinion, they can withdraw the deposit at any time. Not a bad alternative if you have a temporarily unused portion of the money.
Locked-in savings. This method is similar to flexible savings but varies by offering a higher interest rate and restricted access to frozen assets. In this case, the funds are stopped for a specific period, normally 7 to 90 days, during which the funds will not be obtainable for use.
Activities. These are occasions and offers good for a fixed time. They are often more thriving than holding blocked savings but demand users to protect them so they don't miss the opportunity.
Staking locked. This method is equivalent to Locked Savings but offers rewards in exchange for crypto staking. Staking certain coins offers more flexibility in managing staked cryptos, as sealed staking frees users' funds after 48-72 hours.
Launch pool. This is a platform for mining fresh tokens that are launched on the deal. Users can dispatch their funds to the pool to mine a new token, thereby financing their launch. Invested assets are blocked, but users do not lose authority and can take them at any time.
Double investment. This method lets users be exposed to two coins, in exchange for a very high return in a short time. Users have the opportunity of picking the desired strike price, APY, and deposit period. The return will be in one currency or another, depending on the circumstances.
Binance Liquid Exchange. This tool allows users to become an Automated Market Maker (AMM) by depositing tokens, hence providing liquidity and obtaining interest on the token exchange.
BNB safe. A secure and hassle-free tool for users who don't like to go via the intricacies of defining crypto-asset strategies. This aggregator connects all the techniques described above to develop income.

16. Make Money With Udemy

make-money-with-udemy-1.png
Udemy is one of the best-known online training platforms, but also one of the most comprehensive in terms of courses.

Udemy is one of the best-known online training marketplace on the Internet. Just like eBay or Amazon, it allows you to sell (and buy) your training and courses products.
For example, it sells complete web developer training, various design training, but also lifestyle training and office productivity training.
Being able to work from home and do something that you really love is important. But the real question is: does it pay off to sell training on the Internet?

The answer is yes!

Udemy has real potential for users who know how to embrace the codes and listen to their customers.

It's hard to define how much you can earn with Udemy per month, but based on personal feedbacks, a newbie can make up to $ 700 per month with just one good training.

600 $, that's 60 customers who would buy your first training at 10 $. This is a largely achievable goal if you put your heart into it.

Thereafter, you will have the opportunity to create a suite of training courses, which will increase your sales volume, while helping you build up a certain reputation with your niche Udemy community.

Finally, remember that once a course is created, it never stops generating passive income, without you having to put in any extra effort ( you may update it yearly).

It is important to remember that to work on Udemy, you must have a Paypal account. If Udemy is responsible for the traffic that leads to the sale of your training, the platform receives 50% of the price of the sale.

If the traffic that leads to the sale comes from your side, the platform will only receive 3% of the price of the sale.

Finally, make sure you have a good microphone before you start. The clearer and more audible your voice, the better it will be for the quality of the training you publish.
Udemy is accessible to everyone and covers a lot of skill areas. No matter what training you want to sell there, chances are you'll find a buyer there.

Udemy will drive you very quickly to the rank of web trainer if you have knowledge to sell. It's up to you not to minimize the extent of your knowledge!

How to Earn Money Online on Fiverr ?

fiverr-og-logo.png

Fiverr is an incredibly useful website if you’re looking for a side hustle or want to make money while working remotely. Through Fiverr, you can offer freelance services and connect with potential customers all through one platform. This article will walk you through landing your first gig (and more!) on the website and how to make money on Fiverr.

What is Fiverr?

Fiverr is an online platform where freelancers can earn money by offering high demand services. Clients can browse the online marketplace, find freelancers they want to work with, and contact them to work together.

How Does Fiverr Work?

The process of getting started on Fiverr is pretty simple. First, you’ll have to set up a ‘gig,’ which is essentially a type of project you can work on. Your gig will include what customers receive after purchasing (I.e., the deliverable), the price, and when clients can expect to receive your work.

Depending on how much time you’re willing to put in, you can have one set up or multiple gigs. Customers browse through the gigs offered by Fiverr sellers to select someone to work with and purchase gigs directly from a freelancer’s page.

Why You Should Start Making Money On Fiverr Gigs Today

If you’re looking for additional income and building up a freelance profile, Fiverr is a great way to start. Here are some of the reasons why you should consider working on online platforms such as Fiverr:

  1. Work on your own time: Fiverr gives you the freedom to provide services you like and work flexibly.
  2. Set your rates: you get more control over how much to charge clients and what you’ll be providing clients, so you can start making money online on your own terms.
  3. Build your network: You’ll meet clients and potential buyers for your services from around the world and build a network for more opportunities.
  4. Great side income: Since you get to work on your own time, Fiverr is a great side hustle to make some good money while balancing other commitments.

How Quick Can You Make Money on Fiverr?

Fiverr earnings may take some time to get started, but you can start earning money as soon as someone purchases your active gig. This can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.

How to Get Started with Fiverr

So now that we’ve covered how to make money on Fiverr let’s look at the steps needed to get started. We’ll walk you through how to set up your Fiverr profile and account so you can start making extra money.

  1. Create an account on Fiverr using the Fiverr app or the Fiverr platform using the ‘Become a Seller’ option. Choose a professional username as that is what clients will see when shopping for gigs.
  2. You’ll then need to activate your account and set up your profile with a description of your services, skills, educational background, and a photo of yourself to get started.
  3. Once your profile is set up, it’s time to start attracting clients by setting up a basic gig. You can create a new gig for each service you offer. Having a few different types of gigs up simultaneously helps clients find you with more ease and ensures you have better reach.
  4. To stand from the others, you’ll first need to come up with a catchy and appealing gig title. Then, you can add a gig description, which explains the services you provide and what a buyer can expect. Finally, if you’re not sure how to write this part, you can browse similar gigs to get a better idea.
  5. You can also add additional material, such as a gig image, gig videos, including a video testimonial from a previous client if available. You can also create a gig package and more to make your Fiverr profile a comprehensive sales page.
Fiverr Elevate is a great resource the company provides so you can manage yourself as a freelancer. This includes a crash course in the basics of freelancing with a video series in Fiverr’s Learning Center.

  1. Add gig extras: Extras help add further value to your packages. This can include offering a fast turnaround time on services, additional revisions, and more to provide an excellent client experience.

How do You Get Paid on Fiverr?

You can withdraw funds through the following methods:

  • PayPal
  • Fiverr Revenue Card
  • Bank transfer
  • Direct deposit

Can you make a full-time income with Fiverr?

Many freelancers are using Fiverr and making a full-time income. However, the amount of money made on the platform will vary based on how much time you can put in – the more gigs you put in time for, the more income you’re likely to see. How to Make Money on Amazon?

unnamed.png

There are many ways to make money on Amazon. You can join the Mechanical Turk marketplace and get paid to do virtual tasks, publish an e-book or a printed book through Kindle Direct Publishing. Or you may be able to deliver items through Amazon Flex, if the program is available where you live.

But Amazon's status as the top-selling online retailer makes two money-making opportunities stand out from the rest:

Joining Amazon Associates, the company’s affiliate marketing program.

Selling stuff through the company's e-commerce platform.

Here’s what you need to know about both options.

1. Become an affiliate through Amazon Associates
Participants link to Amazon products on their blog or social media channel and get a commission based on subsequent sales. Amazon Associates is best for influencers who already promote products.

How Amazon Associates works
Affiliates earn a commission when a visitor to their website clicks a link to an Amazon product and buys it. The visitor must purchase an item within 24 hours or add an item to their cart and purchase it within 89 days. Commissions are typically 1% to 10% of the purchase price, minus shipping, taxes and fees.

How to sign up

To get started in the Amazon Associates program, you’ll need to have a website that meets Amazon’s site requirements. Next, submit an application. If it's accepted, Amazon requires you to place its affiliate disclosure on your site. The Federal Trade Commission also requires affiliate marketers to clearly disclose their relationship with retailers in posts containing affiliate links. That means affiliates should make all disclaimers easy for readers to find.

How to make money as an affiliate

Affiliate marketing is usually the best way to make money on Amazon. That's because you’ll have a built-in pool of potential customers who trust your judgment and will be more likely to buy products you recommend.
Your success as an affiliate depends on tailoring products to your audience. Start by thinking about your audience’s needs and why people follow you. Or go straight to the source by sending a poll or email asking what kinds of products to include on your site. Then spell out the relevant details in your posts.
Say you run a nature-photography blog for beginners. If you’re linking to a $65 aluminum tripod, you might add, “It’s lightweight and compact, so it’s a good option for hikers. I brought it on my three-day trek through Yosemite and it held up well in rough weather.”

Once you get affiliate links up on your site, focus on getting more traffic to those links to increase your chances of earning money. Frequently publishing content, such as blog or Instagram posts, can help engage existing followers. And it may help your site show up in search engine results, thereby attracting new readers.
To add more affiliate links to your site, consider building a product page that lets you list multiple links. That also gives readers easy access to the items you recommend.
Or you might start a series of weekly or seasonal posts in which you review products. It’s also good to experiment with Amazon’s link, button and banner options, which can help highlight the products you recommend.
Track your site’s traffic with a tool like Google Analytics and use Amazon’s affiliate reports. They will help determine if your tactics work or if it’s time to change your approach.

2. Make money selling on Amazon

Those looking to start an online business can make money selling on Amazon. It takes an entrepreneurial mind and significant effort to get off the ground. But with the right product, the potential payoff can outweigh the risks.
Before you start selling on Amazon, pick a profitable product. To do that, you’ll need to consider the selling costs, such as manufacturing and site fees.

How to get started

First, check if you’re eligible to sell in your chosen category. Some products, such as auto parts and watches, require Amazon’s approval before you can list them. Then determine how much it will cost to get your product in customers’ hands. That includes everything from materials and labor to packing, labeling and shipping.
You may outsource the shipping, storage and customer service by participating in the Fulfillment by Amazon program. But that will cost you, so weigh the options carefully.

How much does selling on Amazon?

Amazon’s fee structure depends on the type of seller: individual or professional.
Individuals pay 99 cents, plus a referral fee based on the product category, for each item sold. Those selling media goods, such as books, DVDs and video games, also pay variable closing fees for each item sold. Amazon’s shipping rates apply to all individuals’ sales.
Professionals pay a $39.99 monthly subscription, a per-item referral fee — which varies by product — and closing fees on media items. For these sellers, the site’s shipping rates apply only to media items.
They also have access to more product categories than individuals, can offer special promotions, and are eligible for top placement on product detail pages. Amazon recommends the subscription program for those planning to sell more than 40 items a month.
As an individual or professional seller, you’ll likely have to satisfy Amazon’s so-called A-to-z Guarantee. That means you could be on the hook for refunds, including shipping charges, if a customer isn’t satisfied.
So build some financial breathing room into your business plan. Another important consideration is taxes. As a seller, you’re considered self-employed. So even though Amazon generally calculates the sales tax on items, you’ll likely have to set aside more money to pay estimated quarterly taxes on your income.

How to make money selling on Amazon

Once you know all the costs involved, research prices for similar items. That will help you price items competitively.
To maximize your earnings, consider finding a cheaper supplier to save on production costs or using search-engine optimization tactics, such as using relevant search terms throughout your posts, to reach new customers.

How to Make Money on YouTube in 2022 ?

2560px-Logo_of_YouTube_(2015-2017).svg.png

The growing creator economy has turned up some diverse ways to make money on YouTube. And while some methods offer a lower barrier to entry than earning through ads, there’s no substitute for quality content and an engaged audience.

If you can tap into your creative side, and are willing to put in a lot of effort, you might be able to make money on YouTube too. Here are a few methods to explore.

How to get paid on YouTube
1. Reach 1K subscribers and apply for the YouTube Partner Program

2. Become an affiliate marketer

3. Create sponsored content through brand deals

4. Create and sell your own product or merchandise

5. Turn to crowdfunding

1. Reach 1K subscribers and apply for the YouTube Partner Program
Let’s get this one out of the way first. The biggest hurdle to joining the YouTube Partner Program is surpassing the 1,000-subscriber threshold. Once you do, it opens the door to earning advertising revenue.

A few additional requirements apply before you can become a partner:

Your videos must abide by the site's advertising guidelines and have more than 4,000 valid public watch hours within the last 12 months.

You must live in an eligible area.

You need to link a Google AdSense account.

Once you meet the requirements, you can apply by clicking into your profile and navigating to the “monetization” section.

As a partner, you can earn money through ads, membership perks and features like Super Chat, which lets viewers pay to have their messages highlighted during a live stream.

How many views on YouTube does it take to make money?
You don’t get paid per video view. Rather, you’re paid for the times when someone watches or clicks on an ad shown on your video.

Influencer Marketing Hub says that while payment varies, the average YouTube channel can expect to make about $18 per 1,000 ad views. That translates to $3 to $5 per 1,000 video views when you factor in the rate of ads actually viewed.

So when do you start making money on YouTube?
You'll be paid once your balance reaches $100. Say it takes approximately 1,000 video views to earn $4 from those viewers who saw ads. You would need 25,000 video views to make $100 through those ads.

If you have a small channel, you might get paid only every few months. You'll also want to be familiar with how Google, which issues AdSense payments, handles taxes.

Sound like a long road ahead?
Below are alternative ways to earn before you hit 1,000 subscribers.

2. Become an affiliate marketer
Affiliate marketing might be the most practical way to monetize your YouTube traffic, especially if you plan to make product review videos. It works like this:

You find a company or seller with an affiliate program, such as Amazon Associates, and apply to join.

Once accepted, you’ll use their process to create custom links to products you plan to feature in your videos.

Demo, review or make reference to the products in your YouTube videos, and paste your custom affiliate marketing link(s) in the description field when you upload.

As an affiliate of a brand, you’ll earn a commission when a viewer clicks your custom link and purchases the product.

While Amazon Associates is a great way to make money on Amazon, endless other opportunities exist. Search on affiliate marketing sites such as ShareASale and ClickBank for possible corporate partners and products to feature. You can also search your favorite brands’ websites for information on how to become an affiliate straight from the source.

Don’t forget to properly notify your viewers about your affiliation with the brand or brands featured, and be sure to point them to the “link in description” when you shoot your video.

3. Create sponsored content through brand deals
Landing a brand deal, also a form of affiliate marketing, is another way to get paid on YouTube: Companies interested in your channel’s audience might sponsor your videos or offer you product placement deals in exchange for a shoutout.

The operative word here is “audience,” which means these types of deals are more likely to present themselves when you develop a following. As your channel grows, you can contact the brands you’d like to work with directly, or use resources like the aforementioned affiliate marketing sites to find corporate partners that complement your style of content.

With brand deals, you can receive lump sum payments, earn commission on a per-sale basis or get the product or service for free.

Keep in mind: If you do have an endorsement or use product placement in a video, you must notify YouTube by ticking a box in the advanced settings tab of your video manager to indicate your video contains paid promotion.

4. Create and sell your own product or merchandise
If you have merchandise or offer a service that’s relevant to your audience, let them know about it and provide links in your videos. For example, creator Marques Brownlee, of popular tech review channel MKBHD, leaves a link to his own line of T-shirts and accessories in every video he posts.

Selling a physical product might require you to buy materials or find a manufacturer, but you can also sell downloadables such as e-books, art prints or virtual classes. Have a secure payment system in place before you advertise your goods.

Incentive to sell: While creating your own products can be a lot harder than pitching those of other companies, you could stand to make more money this way, since you’ll keep the bulk of your proceeds as the product owner.

5. Turn to crowdfunding
Crowdfunding is another monetization method you can use to keep your channel going. There are two primary types of crowdfunding: recurring and project-based. In the former, which is better suited for content creators, fans of the channel pay a small subscription fee for perks and/or an exclusive tier of access.

More subscribers means more revenue. Incentives such as one-on-one video chats, private classes or merchandise can entice viewers to sign up. Patreon is a popular crowdfunding platform, and serves as an additional income stream for many video creators, musicians and other artists with more than a modest following.

If you have an idea for a project that requires financial support, a project-based crowdfunding campaign is the way to go. Get started with sites such as Indiegogo, Kickstarter or GoFundMe.

How much money can you make on YouTube?
This question is a complicated one. The answer is akin to the landscape of the music industry. Like the breakout bands and artists that strike the right chord and amass an exponential fanbase, YouTube stars with millions of followers stand to make the most, easily reaching seven figures.

According to Forbes, creator Stevin John, of the hugely popular kids' channel Blippi, earned $17 million in 2020, in large part from the 8.2 billion views and 27.4 million subscribers he’s racked up on YouTube. That kind of success is more the exception than the rule, but don’t let that discourage you.

Sean Cannell, co-author of “YouTube Secrets” and founder of the Think Media channel, advises new YouTubers to lean on affiliate marketing as the best way to earn right off the bat. In a video post from 2021, he says it’s possible to pull in $500 a week with the right niche and strategy.

Earn an audience, and earn more in the long run
YouTube offers opportunity for all, but it’s not a get-rich-quick platform. It takes time, effort and an engaged audience to make money on YouTube. The good news is, with a little motivation and a lot of practice, you can find ways to earn before the coveted 1,000-subscriber threshold.

Keep these tips in mind as you get started:

The more videos you make and upload, the easier it is to reach the viewing-hours threshold.

The better you target your content to a specific audience or niche (e.g., film photography), the more likely your viewers will be to subscribe for more.

Thoughtful, entertaining videos are more likely to get views, so it pays to put effort into planning and production.

Don’t discount the power of a targeted title and standout thumbnail to attract viewer attention.

Other ways to make money
If making money on YouTube isn’t for you, consider these alternative routes:

Want to try another video platform? Try to make money on TikTok.

If you’re a gamer, look into how to get paid on Twitch.

Looking to clean house? Try to sell stuff online or make money on eBay.

If you’re writing anyway, consider how to make money blogging.
