On the other hand, Mark Gurman claims that a new Ring competitor is currently in the works.

According to Mark Gurman's allegation in the Power On newsletter, Apple is working on a smart doorbell and lock system that would use Face ID to unlock the door for people who are already familiar with the company. Gurman claims that the face-scanning doorbell would be able to link to a smart deadbolt, which might include third-party locks that are already compatible with HomeKit. Apple may also "[team] up with a specific lock maker to offer a complete system on day one." This would be an alternative.

On the other hand, it is highly probable that the doorbell-lock system will not be available for purchase for quite some time, if it is even available at all. According to Gurman, it is now located in the preliminary stages of development and is not expected to be ready until at least the end of the next year. According to Gurman, the doorbell is just one of numerous smart home items that Apple is currently working on. It would help Apple compete with other smart home goods such as Google Nest and Amazon's Ring. Reportedly, the business is also working on the development of a security camera for use inside the home. This camera would be compatible with the company's predicted smart home hub, which is anticipated to make its debut as early as the following year.
