The corporate is growing the limits for all accounts as well.
OpenAI is providing free Deep Research access to ChatGPT users, and has also increased the limits of o4-mini for all users. It is a more cost-effective and efficient way to get similar, high-quality results that are "almost as smart" as the original OpenAI Deep Research. This was previously available only to paying Pro, Plus, Team, Edu and Enterprise subscribers, and even then they could only make a limited number of Deep Research queries per month.
Plus users, for example, had 10 questions, and Pro subscribers who paid $200 monthly could ask up to 125 questions. When users reach the original version limit, ChatGPT will switch to the lightweight one. Plus and Team users now also receive an additional 15 Deep Research requests per month on top of their 10, while Pro users receive an additional 125 tasks powered by the lightweight platform on top of their 125. Enterprise and Edu users are gaining access to the lightweight tool next week and will receive 15 more requests every month. Free users can use the tool to get up to five answers per month, powered by o4-mini.
Deep Research can analyze websites and other sources to create detailed reports with citations. The tool is "fine-tuned on the OpenAI o3 reasoning model," according to the company, but the lightweight version is "much cheaper to serve."
