A revamp of the first game is also headed PC, Xbox Series X/S, and needless to say, Game Pass.

Another Xbox series, Gears of War, is coming to PlayStation. Gears of War: Reloaded, a revamp of the series' first installment in 2006, is scheduled for release on August 26 on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. Nintendo Switch 2 is not on the list as of now, however.
The game will cost $40 and will also be available on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. A free upgrade will be given to those who bought the digital version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition before the remaster was announced. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will be able to play the third-person shooter on Xbox Cloud Gaming.
The Coalition, a Microsoft studio focusing on Gears of War, worked on the remaster with Sumo Digital and Disbelief. The remaster includes all Gears of War DLC at no additional cost, an additional campaign act, and all the multiplayer features. You will be able to unlock cosmetics and characters as you progress.
As usual, you can play the campaign with a friend via online or local split-screen co-op. The game has cross-play across all platforms, allowing up to eight players to compete against each other in the versus multiplayer mode. If you sign in with a Microsoft Account (which is not strictly necessary), you can unlock cross-progression. For example, if you bought Gears of War: Reloaded on a PS5 and played the multiplayer or campaign there, you can continue from that point on a tablet or phone via Xbox Cloud Gaming.
"Platform-specific features" aside, Gears of War: Reloaded supports 4K HDR visuals, 60 fps for the campaign, 120 fps in multiplayer modes, and Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, and other visual, audio, and performance enhancements. Microsoft also says the campaign will be seamless with no loading screens.
The Coalition has another Gears of War project in the works. Gears of War: E-Day, which was shown during the Xbox Games Showcase in June, is being co-developed with People Can Fly, the studio behind Outriders. A release date has not been set yet.
