Plant maintenance is made more fun with Senso, which features real-time data and a lovely virtual companion.

At CES 2026, imitations of the Tamagotchi are very much alive and well. SoildTech's take on the concept is to introduce a virtual pet into the soil in order to assist you in preventing the death of your plants. Senso is a device that combines a plant health sensor with a device that is similar to a Tamagotchi. It provides information about the circumstances of the environment in which a houseplant is kept as well as a gamified method of monitoring those parameters.

Little characters will offer you quests to do certain activities, such as watering a plant that needs to be watered or adjusting the lighting of a plant that just needs some tweaks. In addition, if you take good care of your plant, you will also be contributing to the flourishing of the virtual home planet that those characters inhabit. (A world that, I feel obligated to point out, is strikingly similar to one that I have encountered in the past as the owner of a Tamagotchi Paradise). If you have more than one plant, you may switch the virtual pet component between the sensors in different plants by magnetically attaching it to a two-pronged probe that is inserted into the pot. This allows you to switch between these sensors.

In the app that is powered by artificial intelligence, you will be able to add and manage several plants, and you will receive a comprehensive analysis of the facts and requirements of each individual plant. Soildtech says the app can also detect plants and the diseases they may be dealing with from a snapshot. Senso enables voice interactions so you can turn straight to the device for caretaking advice too.

In spite of the fact that it is quite adorable and was developed with novice plant enthusiasts in mind, I am unable to comment on how accurately it can evaluate the state of a plant's health based on the quick examination that we have had with it. Senso comes in different hues and will appear on Kickstarter "soon."
