The Premium All-Wheel-Drive Long Range variant is the only one that incorporates the little additional seats, which come at a price of $2,500.
The 2026 Model Y from Tesla is now available for purchase on the company's website, and it comes with a new (and traditional) option: a seven-seat version that can be accessed through a third row. Your purchase of the Premium All-Wheel-Drive Long Range model is required in order to take advantage of the additional seating, which comes at a cost of $2,500. The option was initially hinted at by Tesla in an email sent to potential purchasers in the previous year. The communication promised "seating for up to seven and enough room for everyone's gear," as reported by Electrek at the time.According to the photographs that can be found on Tesla's configurator, the new seats appear to be meant primarily for youngsters because they do not provide a great deal of legroom. Despite the fact that Tesla states that the inside of the seven-seater vehicle "features fold-flat second-row and third-row seats," it is unclear whether these seats fold down electrically in the same manner as the second row.
There is a rise in competition for Tesla, particularly in the crossover/SUV market, and the company experienced yet another drop in sales during the most recent quarter. Before it was updated in the beginning of the previous year, the manufacturer had previously offered a seven-seat version of the Model Y in the United States for a brief period of time. Since that time, however, it has only been offered with a total of five passenger seats. In August 2025, Tesla introduced a six-seat "Model YL" version in China. This version had a six-inch wheelbase expansion, which is not present in the vehicle sold in the United States. This model is expected to be introduced to the market in the United States by the end of 2026, or possibly "never."The Model Y range has undergone very modest modifications, and these modifications are only available in the Premium version. A new black headliner, a larger, higher-resolution 16-inch touchscreen, and darker rear badging are some of the available options. Additionally, there is a dark gray "Helix" wheel option that measures 20 inches.
