Cutting a mango is easy and fast if you know the right way to do it. Here is how you can cut a mango efficiently:​


Ingredients:
A ripe mango
A sharp knife
A cutting board
A spoon (optional)

Step 1: Wash the Mango​

Wash the mango under cool running water to remove dirt and bacteria from the skin.

Step 2: Identify the Flat Sides​

The pit, which is usually large and flat, lies centrally. Stand the mango upright. Locate the more nearly flat surfaces (cheeks).

Step 3: Remove the Cheeks​

Put your mango on the cutting board.
Using a very sharp knife, cut on both sides, angled about 1/4 inch off-center but not hitting the pit. Stop when you end up with two cheeks.

Step 4: Carve the Cheeks​

Grab one cheek of the mango. Hold the fruit flesh side up.

Score the flesh in a grid pattern with a knife, making cubes without cutting through the skin. For slices, make parallel cuts instead of a grid.​

Step 5: Scoop Out the Mango Use a spoon to scoop out the cubes or slices from the skin.
Step 6: Trim the Sides​

With the other part of the mango, that part with the pit, cut away the thin slices of flesh around the pit.
Cut or score these and scoop them out.

Step 7: Serve and Enjoy​

You now have beautifully cut mango cubes or slices to eat or for recipes!
Optional: Peel Before Cutting
If you prefer cutting without scoring, peel the mango first:

Peel the skin off using a vegetable peeler or knife.
Hold the peeled mango, cut around the pit, and remove the flesh.
Slice or dice it as required.
