What Exactly is DeviceBuster?
DeviceBuster is our in-house developed hardware benchmark that simulates the raw computing power and graphical rendering capabilities of any device with a browser – from smartphones and tablets to desktops and laptops.Instead of simulating artificial data, DeviceBuster bombards your screen with a real-time physics simulation, putting your device’s hardware into overdrive.
How the Device Stress Test Works
When you hit the “Ignite Engine” button, DeviceBuster goes into a two-phase assault on your system:1. The GPU Test (Graphics Processing Unit): The browser begins to draw thousands of highly-contrasting, bright neon particles on an HTML5 canvas. Each of these particles must be individually rendered and displayed by your graphics chip.
2. The CPU Test (Central Processing Unit): While your GPU is busy rendering, your CPU doesn't get a break. In each frame, it must calculate complicated physics equations (gravity, drag, collisions with boundaries) for every single particle on the screen.
The Test Scales Over Time:
It starts with a baseline of 1,000 particles and dynamically injects 1,000 additional particles into the simulation every second. The test continues until your device can no longer maintain smooth playback.The tool continuously measures your Live FPS (Frames Per Second). As the calculations and rendering become overwhelming, and your device dips below 20 FPS, the test will automatically abort itself to prevent browser instability or crashes.
Interpreting Your Device Score:
After the test is complete, DeviceBuster will display your device score, indicating the maximum number of particles your system was able to handle without significant performance degradation.POTATO DEVICE: Your hardware struggled early. Best suited for basic web browsing and text messages, but don't expect to play graphics-intensive games.
GOOD DEVICE: Your device performed well. A solid performer for everyday multitasking, casual gaming, and media consumption.
BEAST DEVICE: An absolute powerhouse. Whether it’s a flagship smartphone or a high-end gaming rig, this device devoured the physics simulation with ease.
