Microsoft 365 subscribers had access to the privacy protection feature.
Microsoft is discontinuing the VPN that is provided by Microsoft Defender. According to Windows Latest, the firm has updated its support site for its built-in VPN, which provides privacy protection, to inform customers that the service would be discontinued on February 28. The VPN was included with Microsoft Defender, which is available to anyone who has a personal or family Microsoft 365 subscription. It provided private browsing by "routing your internet traffic through Microsoft servers" up to a monthly data limit of 50GB.
Microsoft stated, "Our goal is to ensure you, and your family remain safer online," in a statement regarding the decision that was placed on the support page. We regularly assess how our features are used and how well they work. As a result, we will be eliminating the privacy protection function and will be investing in new areas that will better meet the demands of our customers. If Android users wish to delete the Microsoft Defender VPN profile from their settings beyond the expiration date, they will have to do so manually, since it may still be visible. According to Microsoft, "Windows, iOS, and macOS users do not need to take any action."
The corporation has also stated that this is the only function that will be discontinued for the time being. As stated by Microsoft, "device protection and identity theft and credit monitoring (US) features will continue."
