An option to schedule direct messages is being added to Instagram. Following the discovery of the functionality by social media expert Lindsey Gamble, Instagram has confirmed to TechCrunch that it is currently in the process of sending out scheduled direct messages to all users.
Maintaining your finger on the send button while you compose a message allows you to choose a date and time for the message to be sent. It would appear that schedules for communications can be made up to 29 days in advance. Until all of the messages that have been planned to be delivered at a specific time have been sent, you will see a banner that reads something like "x scheduled messages."
People who wish to book birthday messages for a large number of friends at the same time, or who want to remember someone to pick them up from the airport on a particular day, will find this to be a useful tool. Additionally, it will be helpful for individuals who have a habit of taking care of correspondence at night and do not wish for everyone to be aware of how late they are staying up. When it comes to emails, I under no circumstances ever do something like that.
The fact that Instagram is in the process of pushing out this direct message scheduling feature before all users are able to schedule posts and Reels in advance is something that should be noted. For the time being, access to that feature is restricted to individuals who have created a professional account.
In the meanwhile, Instagram is releasing a number of end-of-year features that are only available for a limited time to assist you in celebrating the holidays and your memories from 2024. One of the features that can be found in Stories is a collage tool that is themed on the end of the year. It would appear that you have the option of installing a Happy New Year overlay, based on the photographs that Instagram has released.
There are a number of Add Yours templates that are centered around New Year's Day as well. One of these templates provides you with the opportunity to encourage your friends to post photographs in the manner of how 2024 began and how it ended. A personalized effect will appear on your screen if you click the "like" button on the end-of-year Stories. Additionally, there is a New Year typeface and a Countdown text effect that can be applied to feed articles, storytelling, and reels.
A New Year's theme, a "chill" theme, and, of course, a Mariah Carey-themed theme are all examples of festive chat themes that are appropriate for the holiday season. Last but not least, if you use specific emoji that are themed around events or words such as "Happy New Year" or "hello 2025" in direct messages or notes before the end of the year, you will see a tiny Easter egg of some kind.
