Field Yates Pushes Back on Shedeur Sanders’ Draft Narrative

The debate surrounding Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders and his prospects of being selected in the NFL Draft has changed completely. He was widely regarded as a top-five pick, but speculations say that he might not even get picked in the first round. ESPN analyst Field Yates, however, seems to think there is more to the story, and the reasoning does not make much sense to him.

While participating in an episode on GoJo and Golic podcast, Yates was not fond of the reasoning proposed around Sanders’ drop in stock. He pointed out Sanders’ ability to perform even when he is being pressured and claimed that regardless of the changing narrative, Sanders will be valued by teams looking to get a quarterback early in the draft.
"I think we're bound to go a little off-the-rails with the discussions regarding Shedeur Sanders,” Yates asserted. Sanders has faced high expectations and has delivered throughout his entire career. “While I certainly wouldn’t place him as high as last year’s top three, and number one overall draft picks, I would imagine him and Cam Ward being picked early, possibly first and second overall."

Every NFL franchise is on the endless hunt for world-class quarterbacks, so there will always be a demand for a new franchise quarterback. And in this case, so many teams are desperate for a quarterback.

It would be hard to pass on a player like Sanders, especially if he were selected in the first ten.
Although his physical characteristics may draw criticism, his exceptional accuracy ought to be more than enough to draw suitors. His ability to put the ball precisely offers him an advantage over other prospects, even though he might not have the strongest arm in the class. Sanders is still a solid option for decision-makers searching for a dependable quarterback with a lot of upside.

The idea that his draft stock has fallen seems more like conjecture than reality. Sanders should continue to be discussed as one of the best quarterbacks available as the draft draws near.
