If you want to delete a page in a Microsoft Word document, there are several methods you can use depending on the situation. Here are the most common ways to delete a page in Word:

Method 1: Using the Backspace or Delete Key (For a Blank Page)

If the page is blank or contains unwanted content (like extra paragraphs or spaces), you can try this simple method:

  1. Place your cursor at the beginning of the page you want to delete.
  2. Press and hold the Backspace key (if you're at the beginning of the page) or press the Delete key (if you're at the end of the previous page).
  3. If there's extra content (like empty paragraphs or page breaks) pushing the content onto a new page, this will remove it.

Method 2: Deleting a Page with a Page Break

If the unwanted page is caused by a page break, here's how to remove it:

  1. Go to the end of the previous page (before the unwanted page).
  2. Click on the "Home" tab in the ribbon.
  3. Turn on paragraph marks by clicking the symbol in the toolbar (also called "Show/Hide" button). This will make hidden formatting marks, like page breaks, visible.
  4. You should see a "Page Break" marker at the beginning of the unwanted page.
  5. Place your cursor just before the page break.
  6. Press the Delete key to remove the page break.
This will delete the page created by the page break.

Method 3: Using Navigation Pane (For a Non-Blank Page)

If you need to delete an entire page that contains text, images, or other content, you can use the Navigation Pane to locate and delete it:

  1. Open the "View" tab at the top of Word.
  2. Check the box next to Navigation Pane in the "Show" section. This will open a sidebar on the left.
  3. In the Navigation Pane, click the "Pages" tab to see a thumbnail view of each page.
  4. Scroll through the thumbnails and click on the page you want to delete. This will bring it up in the document.
  5. Select all the content on that page by pressing Ctrl + A (Windows) or Cmd + A (Mac).
  6. Press the Delete key to remove everything on that page.

Method 4: Deleting a Page Using the "Go To" Command

If you want to delete a specific page, you can use the Go To command to quickly navigate to the page and delete its content.

  1. Press Ctrl + G (Windows) or Cmd + G (Mac) to open the "Find and Replace" dialog box.
  2. In the "Enter page number" field, type the page number you want to delete (e.g., type \page to jump to the current page).
  3. Press Enter or click Go To.
  4. Word will select all the content on that page.
  5. Press the Delete key to remove the page.

Method 5: Deleting a Page in a Section (For More Complex Layouts)

If you're dealing with a document that has multiple sections or complicated formatting, like headers and footers, follow these steps:

  1. Place your cursor at the beginning of the page you want to delete.
  2. Go to the "Layout" tab.
  3. Click on Breaks and select Next Page or Continuous (depending on the layout of your document).
  4. This will split the sections, and you can delete the page within the section using any of the above methods.

Important Notes:

  • Be careful when using the Delete or Backspace keys, as it can remove content you might want to keep, like images, text, or tables.
  • If there’s a table or other large content, ensure it’s not causing an extra page. You can delete it manually if needed.
