The third season of Squid Game has been announced for June 27.
Netflix has teased the next -- and possibly last -- season of Squid Game, and things aren't looking great for the players. The streaming service released a teaser video that showed the games restarting after Player 456's failed uprising. Season 2 ended on a cliffhanger that suggested the rebellion would not be able to stop the games. Player 456 was shown in the teaser being brought back into a room of players inside a coffin. When he wakes up, the games return, players are divided into groups, mother and son are torn apart and -- oddly -- a baby can be heard crying by the end of the teaser. We also get a look at Jun-ho as he searches for the island where the games are taking place, and his brother In-ho who resumes his role as the games' Front Man after pretending to be a player in season 2.
Squid Game is a South Korean survival thriller that touches on themes related to class struggle and social inequality. The story follows regular people who are stuck in a facility locked down by the evil games director. Only one person can win the pot of money accumulated through the games played. The rest? They die. Seong Gi-hun, the show's protagonist, who won the first season, comes back to finish off the games organization, and it seems like the third part will be the last one. Squid Game 3 is coming to Netflix on June 27.
